Auditions August 23rd-25th
Performances: Oct 25th-27th and Nov 1st-3rd (2 weekends) Ages 12 and up Actors should prepare a 1 minute song of their choice in the style of the show, but not from the show. Strong character choices are encouraged and all music must be pre-loaded onto a device they can plug into a headphone jack to play at auditions. No voices allowed in the track, so karaoke or a pre-recorded piano track is acceptable. There will be no live accompanist. Bring dance shoes to auditions and dress in clothing that allows for flexibility and movement as this is a dance-heavy show for the teenagers. Come looking great and ready to show us your best! We love when actors really go for it at auditions so practice not only singing well, but also performing and entertaining the casting panel!
*$25 non-refundable audition fee will be collected at auditions and will be applied to full tuition payment. If a student auditions but does not do the show, the $25 fee is not refunded or applied for any studio credit
About the show:
The year is 1958, and the much-adored rock-and-roll idol — Conrad Birdie — has been drafted into the US army. His songwriter and agent, Albert, and Albert’s secretary and some-time girlfirend, Rosie, hatch a plan for a farewell performance to take place on The Ed Sullivan Show, which they hope will help sell Birdie’s new song “One Last Kiss,” and ultimately save Almaelou records from going under. To cap off the performance, Birdie will actually give ‘one last kiss’ to Kim MacAfee, an avid member of the Conrad Birdie fan club from Sweet Apple, Ohio.
When Albert and Rosie head to Sweet Apple to prepare for Birdie’s arrival, things start to unravel. Kim’s father is starstruck at the thought of being on The Ed Sullivan Show with his daughter, and Kim’s new steady, Hugo gets jealous at the thought of Kim kissing Conrad on national television.Link to more information: https://stageagent.com/shows/musical/713/bye-bye-birdie#shows
